TEFI Digital Dentistry

A trip to the dentist might cause you to worry about a painful toothache or potential surgery. But there may be other, and far more serious issues waiting for you at the dentist than that.

One of those issues is cross-contamination. Cross-contamination is the inadvertent transfer of bacteria (or other contaminants) from one surface, substance, or subject to another. In other words, cross-contamination is the spread of microorganisms from one source to another.

The good news is that some clinics are very much aware of cross-contamination and are taking all measures to give their patients the best possible dental care experiences. One of those clinics is TEFI Digital Dentistry, who approached us because they wanted to minimize cross-contamination risks at their clinic.

Optimizing the cleaning routine

TEFI Digital Dentistry needed to enhance disinfection procedures in their daily cleaning routine to feel that  different areas of their clinic were safe and infection-free. Choosing a UV-C disinfection solution for this purpose was an easy decision, as they wanted to reach all corners of the clinic. This included door handles and light switches, but also their medical area and operating room.

When UV-C light is applied it kills living bacteria and inactivates viruses by interacting with DNA and RNA components, breaking cells down on a molecular level. The germicidal properties of UV-C irradiation peak at a wavelength of 254 nm.

The clinic uses UV-C dosimeter stickers to manage their environment and to monitor the entire process from start to finish. So it’s safe to say that their daily cleaning routine has now been greatly enhanced.

Disinfecting after each patient

A clinic like TEFI Digital Dentistry has many patients walking in and out each day. So getting a solution that disinfected after every patient required the solution to not just be good, but almost perfect. The good news is, the clinic found a way to enhance their daily cleaning routine. They also managed to eliminate many of the human error risks that occur during regular cleaning processes.

Autonomous solutions like our UVD Robots have given peace of mind to the clinic's patients and staff - they are now able to benefit from the UV-C disinfection process and feel confident in the robot’s cleaning routines.

We decided to disinfect every single corner of the clinic: The medical area, the reception, office area, restrooms and meeting rooms.

Autonomous UV-C Disinfection

When using an autonomous disinfection system like UVD Robots, it is possible to disinfect a 40 square-meter room in only 18-20 minutes. The robot does it all by itself.

At the TEFI Digital Dentistry Clinic, the Head Nurse sets the UVD Robot up once with a tablet app and a map of the room. After that, the autonomous unit just needs to be activated for further disinfections. The robot will remember the room layout the next time it disinfects. From here on, the clinic staff are free to attend to other assignments, like preparing the next room for disinfection or seeing patients.

An autonomous disinfection system like UVD Robots is safe to use and easy to operate. A state-of-the-art safety system ensures the systems stops disinfection immediately if a person enters the room or other robot operating area.

We are very delighted that the robot is absolutely autonomous and it works with the proximity of all the surfaces. That’s how we control cross-contamination and are sure that everything is absolutely disinfected.
